Return of Hong Kong Delegation from the Incheon 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games

The Incheon 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) was concluded yesterday (6 July 2013). The main group of the Hong Kong, China Delegation returned to Hong Kong in the afternoon today (7 July 2013) with outstanding results by attaining 17 medals, including 3 Gold, 4 Silver and 10 Bronze in the five sports events, i.e. Billiard Sports, Bowling, DanceSport, Muay and Short Course Swimming, placed at 8th in the medal tally (Their outstanding achievements are summarized at Appendix). In addition, the Swimming Team broke four Hong Kong records in the Games.

Led by Mr. Karl C. KWOK, MH, Chef de Mission, Ms. Vivien C.C. LAU, BBS, JP, Deputy Chef de Mission and Mr. PANG Chung, SBS, BBS, Hon. Secretary General of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, the Delegation with 67 athletes participated in 7 sports events, namely the Baduk (Go), Billiard Sports, Bowling, DanceSport, Futsal, Muay and Short Course Swimming in the AIMAG. The Federation would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the athletes and wish them continued success in future competitions. Under the Federation, AIMAG has started a series of multi-sports Games that Hong Kong will participate in 2013, kicking off an omen to start off in the coming Asian Youth Games in Nanjing and East Asian Games in Tianjin to be held in coming August and October.

First Gold Medal of Hong Kong Delegation in Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games

Most of the competitions commenced after the conclusion of Opening Ceremony yesterday. Hong Kong won one gold, one silver and one bronze medal today with Mr. MAK Cheuk Yin, bowler, won the first gold medal for Hong Kong in Bowling Men’s Singles.

Hong Kong Delegation will participate in Baduk, Billiard Sports, Bowling, Futsal, Muay and Short Course Swimming 25m on 1 July 2013. For more details of the Games, please visit www.hkolympic.org.

Incheon 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games officially begins

It is a wonderful evening in Incheon with the official Opening Ceremony of the Incheon 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) held in the Samsan World Gymnasium. All participating countries / regions marched in during the Ceremony including Hong Kong, which came the second last, was led by the flag bearer Ms. NG On Yee, the billiard athlete who has won the world champion title for Hong Kong.

The Organizing Committee scheduled the Opening Ceremony on 29 June 2013 at 18:00 in the Samsan World Gymnasium, with the cultural performance started as the pre-show. The Marching-in of athletes came very last, Hong Kong athletes and officials, including sports of Billiard, Swimming and Go, dressed in their FILA uniform, headed by Ms. NG On Yee, marched into the venue before Korean delegation. Other members from Hong Kong failed to show up due to the training or competition scheduled on the next day.

The programme followed by the speeches of Organizing Committee and Olympic Council of Asia and the final show of the programme was the lighting of the cauldron inside and outside the Opening Ceremony venue.

For Hong Kong team in Incheon, the competitions of Futsal, Muay and Billiard have started, while most of the Hong Kong team members have already arrived Incheon these days to prepare for their competitions in the AIMAG. Team Welcome Ceremony for the Hong Kong, China Delegation to the Incheon 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games

The Team Welcome Ceremony of the Hong Kong, China Delegations to the 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games was held today (28 June 2013) in the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games Athletes’ Village with an attendance of about 20 members from the Hong Kong, China Delegation. Mayor of Athletes’ Village, Mr. SU Jung-Ghyu officiated the Team Welcome Ceremony in the presence of Mr. Timothy T.T. FOK, GBS, JP, Vice President of Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) cum President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC), Mr. PANG Chung, SBS, BBS, Hon Secretary General of SF&OC, and Mr. Karl C. KWOK, MH, Chef de Mission of the Incheon 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.

This is the fourth editions of this Games, the first Asian Indoor Games was held in Bangkok in 2005 ,the second edition Asian Indoor Games was held in Macau in 2007 and the third edition was held in Hanoi in 2009. After the third edition, OCA decided to merge the Asian Indoor Games with the Asian Martial Arts Games, which was held for the first time for the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Incheon in 2013.

With the new edition of Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, we wish Hong Kong Team triumphant return home.

Hong Kong Delegation ready for the Incheon 2013 Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games

Led by Mr. Karl C. KWOK, MH, Chef de Mission (CDM) of the Hong Kong, China Delegation to the 4th AIMAG and Mr. PANG Chung, SBS, BBS, Hon. Secretary General of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, the Hong Kong Delegation departed to Incheon for the Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) today by taking Korean Airline.

This is the first multi-sports Games that Hong Kong participated in 2013. Mr. PANG said that, with the leadership of Mr. Karl KWOK, an experienced CDM who also served the same post in Vietnam 2009 Asian Indoor Games, he hoped that the Delegation would perform well and made a good start preparing for the coming Asian Youth Games, National Games and East Asian Games to be held in the coming few months.

Hong Kong will be sending a total of 67 athletes to participate in 7 sports events, namely the Baduk (Go), Billiard Sports, Bowling, Dancesport, Futsal, Muay and Short Course Swimming 25M. The Federation would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to Home Affairs Bureau and Leisure and Cultural Services Department for their support. The Flag Presentation Ceremony for the Hong Kong, China Delegation to the Incheon 4th Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games

The Flag Presentation Ceremony for the Hong Kong, China Delegation to the 4th AIMAG concluded successfully at Jockey Club Lecture Theatre of Olympic House on 20 May 2013. Mr. TSANG Tak Sing, GBS, JP, Secretary for Home Affairs of Home Affairs Bureau, accompanied by Mr. CHO Yong Chun, Consul General of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Hong Kong, presented the HKSAR flag to Mr. Timothy T.T. FOK, GBS, JP, President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (the Federation) and Mr. Karl C. KWOK, MH, Chef de Mission of the Hong Kong, China Delegation to the 4th AIMAG in the presence of the Federation’s Elected Officers and guests, including HKSAR Government officials and NSA representatives.

The Incheon 4th Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games (4th AIMAG) is going to be held in Incheon from 29 June to 6 July 2013. Hong Kong will be sending a total of 67 athletes to participate in 7 sports events. Details are listed at the Annex.

To further promote the 4th AIMAG to the public, the Federation has established a webpage in our official website to introduce the Games and the Hong Kong Delegation. During the period of 4th AIMAG, the most updated competition results of the Hong Kong Delegation will be uploaded onto the webpage.
